In 2020, SAQA announced the de-accreditation of four of the ICB’s programmes:

  • National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting
  • National Diploma: Financial Accounting
  • Diploma: Public Sector Accounting
  • Diploma: Office Administration

The de-accreditation of the qualifications is effective from 2020. There are, however, two important dates to take note of:

  • 30 July 2021 – final date for enrolment
  • 30 July 2025 – final date for achievement

Students can be enrolled on any of the above qualification up until 30 July 2021. Students have until 30 July 2025 to achieve the qualifications.

New students entering – for example the Financial Accounting stream / programme – will need to register for:

  • National Certificate: Bookkeeping
  • FETC Certificate: Bookkeeping
  • National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting
  • National Diploma: Financial Accounting

The registrations for all of these qualifications needs to be done at the same time. Students will still have to progress through the qualifications as per normal but in order to have an opportunity to achieve all of the qualifications and to meet the final date of enrolment, the registration must be done at the same time.

Similarly, pipeline students need to register for all of the remaining qualifications in the stream.

Students have until 30 July 2025 to achieve the qualifications marked as de-accredited. Any qualification from the list not achieved by this date will be forfeited as there is no extension. Thus, a new student entering – for example the Financial Accounting stream – has from now until 30 July 2025 to successfully achieve all four qualifications within the stream.
